Round Display table....
For years, my wife and I searched for a table that
could display a plaster cast of a dinosaur footprint that our family
made at Dinosaur State Park, and coordinate with our furniture.
We
wanted a round table that would display and protect the plaster cast and
look good in a variety of settings.
We
never found a table that met our criteria, so we designed the table
according to our taste. The table needed to have a an elegant but sturdy
appearance, reflecting the contents that it would hold. The table is
constructed from solid black walnut. The eight piece round top has an
inlaid 16" diameter tempered glass window which is supported by a
laminated round veneered case. The display case is supported by 4 legs
which are tapered on 3 sides at a gradual angle to give it a more
massive yet refined look. This piece is finished in a warm oil tone then
hand rubbed with tung oil. The piece looks good within a traditional
setting as an end or a side table. It looks great beside the baby grand
piano or in our living room.
Marble table base....
For nearly 60 years, this Italian marble table has
been
passed around in my family. Given its massive 4 foot diameter size
and its weight, it was only a matter of time before the base would give
in, just like its two other table stand predesessors. I designed
and built a wood table base, reminiscent of the 50's style from solid
cherry hardwood. The turned, tapered, splayed legs comfortably
hold the weight of the table and complement the other furniture in the
room.
Traditional bedroom furniture...
That original modern oak bedroom set that we purchased
at the furniture store performed well for some time, but it did get
boring and grow old. Trendy, modern furniture can be refreshing
for a while, but it eventually finds its best home in the free want ads.
After long consideration we decided to furnish the bedroom with solid
cherry classic style furniture.
It is finished in a cherry oil stain and hand rubbed tung oil. The
set includes a 7 drawer chest on chest, a 4 drawer dresser, a 7 drawer
lingerie chest, a mirror and 2 nightstands. The furniture is made
with frame and panel construction, flush front drawers with half-blind
dovetails and solid maple wood interior.
The
furniture was made according to an existing plan.
